When Sir Edmund Hillary was asked in the 1920s why he wanted to climb Mount Everest, he replied, "Because it's there." It was for just these extraordinary deeds that the Rolex Explorer was issued in 1953, shortly after the first ascent of Mt. Everest by that very same Sir Edmund Hillary.
The Explorer we offer, with reference 114270, is a K series and was sold in Germany in 2002.
The case of the watch is in excellent condition. There are only light scratches on the back case cover.
The strap is in equally excellent condition.
The clasp is stamped "DE8." Perfectly matching the serial number of the watch.
