Rolex Clasp Codes
The meaning of the Rolex clasp codes
Have you ever wondered what the combination of numbers and letters inside the clasp of your vintage or neo-vintage Rolex means? For a long time, no one outside of Rolex knew. At some point, resourceful collectors figured out that the combination of numbers and letters represents the year of manufacture of the clasp.
The numbers stand for the month of manufacture (see "1" January, "2" February etc.) and the letter for the year of manufacture. In addition, there are clasps that are marked with an additional "S". These are service clasps.
It should be noted that these indications have not been verified by Rolex and therefore their authenticity cannot be guaranteed. However, after thorough research, we believe that the data is very accurate. It should also be noted that the dates refer to the year of manufacture, not the date of sale.
